NorthCoast Alpacas is a professional alpaca breeding business specializing in the production of show quality alpacas. We breed our females to premier herdsires from across the country with the objective of producing correct crias with rare or unique fleece characteristics.
By utilizing herdsires that exhibit the qualities we most highly value, specifically; fleeces exhibiting exceptional hand and luster, solid colors, correct conformation and robust bone structure, we are now producing alpacas with a distinctive and uniform look that is unique to our breeding program.
Our selected breeding stock originates primarily from the Alianza and Accoyo farming cooperatives of Peru. Alianza is renown for producing exquisite fleece fineness retained to maturity and Accoyo for voluminous fleece production and robust bone structure. Though we recognize many other qualities as desirable, by limiting our breeding objectives to these relative few are we best able to increase our rate of improvement.
Our initial 5-year breeding program was constructed before our first alpaca was purchased nearly eleven years ago. Now as we enter our third 5-year plan, we have greatly refined our breeding goals and look with great anticipation to the future. Our herd has grown to number more than seventy-five alpacas, many representing Accoyo bloodlines.
